Medicinal Professional Grade
Organic Herbal Tinctures

A tincture is an extract of the medicinally beneficial constituents of a herb.

our growing range of tinctures

Why we provide tinctures for internal and external use

Simply because they have excellent bio-availability (they are easy to absorb) -close to 100% of the plant goodness compared to as low as 15% for supplements. They also have a very long shelf-life (10 years) which means they are available when fresh or dried material is unavailable.

We make our tinctures from plants growing here at Middle Path in a totally organic environment. We are also keen to ensure that as much of the plants life-force is incorporated in the tincture so we minimise the interval between harvesting the plant material and immersing it in the ethanol (usually only a matter of minutes) to begin the tincture creation process. We believe this adds a degree of efficacy and potency not obtainable using dried plant material.

Because Herbal tinctures are very potent we encourage people to make sure they are not likely to cause any complications with any existing condition or drug regime. You can do that (no charge) using our medicine enquiry form.

Some conditions might be counterindicative for certain tinctures due to powerful healing actions; known conditions are flagged on the individual plant pages under the heading   Contra-indications .

There may also be potentially adverse interactions between some tinctures and some medications which may produce adverse side-effects.

If you are in any doubt or feel any concern you are very welcome to use our medicine enquiry form to make sure what you want is safe and appropriate for you.

Herbal Tinctures

making a dose of tincture

Tinctures are extracted using alcohol (we use absolute or 100% undenatured ethanol ) and so are stronger than herbal teas in terms of the concentration of active compounds.

This method of preparation is necessary to render medicines from certain herbs that resist yielding their non-water-soluble volatile oils, tannins, polyphenols and other chemical constituents in teas, infusions or decoctions.

Like herbal teas, absorption is enhanced when tinctures are taken on an empty stomach at least half an hour before eating or drinking other foods and beverages. Herbal tinctures are taken by drops or eyedropperfuls, which equate to a certain volume measured in milliliters (typically 1.5ml).

When you buy our potent medicinal organic herbal tinctures to obtain optimum health or to remedy a health condition you get powerful medicines without side-effects unlike many prescription drugs.

The healing properties in our organic herbs are extracted with absolute (100%) ethanol which produces herbal tinctures with a very high potency compared to many retail tinctures. In other words you will obtain the maximum benefits possible from the plant.
